Specialized Physicians Partners with Wellstar Health System to Support Oncology Services Across Georgia
Agreement brings Specialized Physicians' network of more than 2,500 physicians to support cancer care at every Wellstar facility
Atlanta, Ga. — October 12, 2026 — Specialized Physicians, a physician-led consortium of physicians and allied healthcare professionals providing contract clinical services, today announced it has signed an agreement to support Wellstar Health System's oncology service lines across all Wellstar facilities.
Wellstar is a not-for-profit health system headquartered in Marietta, Georgia, and one of the state's largest and most integrated healthcare systems. Oncology is one of Wellstar's core clinical service lines, delivered through a network of cancer centers across the state. Wellstar was the first health system in Georgia, and the fifth in the nation, to be accredited as a Network Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons.
Under the agreement, Specialized Physicians will provide oncology physician coverage / advanced practice providers / service line support for Wellstar's cancer programs. The partnership draws on Specialized Physicians' network of more than 2,500 physicians across the full spectrum of specialties, along with its experience in service line management and specialty telehealth.
The collaboration is designed to strengthen access to cancer care across Wellstar's footprint, helping patients get timely appointments and treatment close to home, while supporting the oncology teams already caring for them.
Specialized Physicians' model is built around physicians. The company advocates for fair compensation, safe workloads and reduced administrative burden for the clinicians it works with, an approach intended to support physician retention and continuity of care for patients.
The agreement takes effect October 12, 2026.
